Hip Dysplasia

In general terms, hip dysplasia is a condition where the hip joint is not aligned properly. There are many different kinds of hip dysplasia, and many different ways in which a hip can be dysplastic. Personally, I had a very shallow hip socket on my right side. You're generally supposed to have 25-27% coverage over the femoral head, and I had -11%. I will better explain this measurement, known as the Wiberg angle, in my blog. I was diagnosed as a baby, and was treated with a double diaper, and body cast (from the chest down) for 9 months. As an adolescent, I began experiencing much more frequent and severe pain. I went back in 2003 and learned that I still had hip issues despite the efforts from my infancy. My PAO journey began there.
